Nicky has given me the encouragement i need to post my thoughts on how i'm getting on. As many of you know (or maybe not, i can't remember how quiet i've been keeping this) but i plan to join the Navy in september. Needless to say i need to be fit and in good shape.

So i've been doing exercise more than 3 times per week and eating fairly well. Thing is, this is not really affecting my weight the way i would like. I was 71.5kg before christmas and i'm now 68.7kg. Whilst that is a great weight loss, it's not what i like. When i was younger i trained a lot and when i was at my peak fitness i stayed around 63.5/64.5. So that's what i'd like to be by the end of june.

Clearly what i'm doing isn't enough. Aided by the lovely person (ahem!!!!) that is ninja2 i have discovered that to reach my target weight, i am allowed no more than 1200kcal per day. Which means no snacks at all (bah!!!), no stimulants and pretty much nothing nice (no hero sandwiches, boo-hooo!). Let's just say i need some help. I get so tempted to have snacks during the working day and then if i'm working late i be tempted every now and then to get a take away.

One more thing, the idea of measuring certain dimensions of the body to get a better idea of just how the increased fitness/slimming thing is going cropped up. The idea is that the more you exercise fat turns into muscle (now i need to find out how that is) and the good news is is that muscle weighs more than fat. So although you're developing more muscle you're not actually losing any weight. But you also feel better cause you know that certain muscles are bigger.

6k Club

I've been struggling with the weight loss for a while now and mostly because I'm not putting in the proper effort to do it right. Then every so often something comes along to motivate me and I get back on the wagon for a while longer. Well it's happened again, but this time (I think at least) with a difference.

An LJ friend of mine is living over in Kuwait and recently wrote this article for the Kuwait Times. Being a good LJ friend (as of course I am lol), I duly read the article and found my motivation. An exercise club with like-minded people (and friends) which will help me keep my motivation rather than it waning over the weeks or days as it usually does.

So here's the plan: I'm going to get some friends together and every week we're going to head out for a 6k walk. We'll try different places to keep it interesting and we'll make sure to motivate each other to come along. And hopefully if it works well, we can contact the man himself and see if he fancies us forming an official Northern Ireland 6k club! lol I'm already on training with smaller walks every day since the weekend ... I'm building up lol

So anyone in Northern Ireland free on Friday afternoon for a good old walk?

the fat in my legs has turned to muscle.

I've been the same weight since Christmas despite the walking and horse riding.

I have been losing weight for ages and it's been slow but constant, I have had my ups and downs, and the weight has come off and gone on, I have been very ill inbetween, so loads of weight came off, and then went back on as I started venturing back to normal life, but i still battled on and on to get it coming off.

I am one of those people that gets terribly dispondent if I get told to lose weight and have the old adage of "you have a lovely face all you need to do is lose that weight and you will be beautiful" Those comments and digs actually make my stubborn Arian nature shine through. Then I realise that that doesn't help me.

So finally after the great inspiration I got from blue_roses1910 who is such an amazing woman and has lost an amazing 7st or more. I decided to get my shit together and finally lose weight for me and no one else.

This is most definately a better way of doing it.

So since I have been put on these pills, I have lost 22lbs, but that is not my realisation, my realisation is that since I first started losing weight with weightwatchers and now the doctors I have lost 72lbs, which is over 5 stone.

I can't believe that I was nearly 25st in weight when I started.

Well its week 2 (sort of) of December and I thought I'd post a little to see what the craic is with everyone and how we're all getting on, so... how's everyone doing?

I've lost 4lbs somewhere along the road and don't know where. I've continued with the breakfast (except today cuz I've the cold and feel crap) and hopefully after a while more will drop off.

My walking has stopped because I don't like walking in the rain cuz it makes me sick, so i just need it to snow so I can walk to the car, lol

I don't know how or when or where from but I'm 4lbs lighter than i was the last time I got on the scales. Its a mystery.

As many of you know i'm making an attempt to get into the Navy, hence i need to improve my fitness!! I kinda have a fair idea of training schedules and of what to eat cause i did a lot of training when i was younger. We visited a lot of nutritionists and i can mostly remember what they said and i also remember the type of schedules we had to do to get to certain levels of fitness.

So all of that is ok. The reason why i'm posting is that my motivational skills aren't the best. I tend to throw myself in at the deep end so it's awful for a few weeks and even though the Navy is something i really want to do i know that there'll be times when i really won't want to do any exercise.

I was wondering if you had any tips or advice for this type of thing?

The whole time the folks were in China I had breakfast. Now that they're back and I'm up at my normal time I don't have time for breakfast so have been getting cereal bars instead. I tried the Crunchy Nut chocolate one, Special K with chocolate chips and a Coco pops one. The Cunuchy Nut one is lovely! But thats now why I'm here.

I'm still the same weight I was two weeks ago. Surely with the breakfast, wakling home from work and horseiding I would have lost something?!?!?Or does it take a week or so for your body to catch up?

Ok, to help the few of us who are doing this I thought it might be an idea to stick up what we have been eating to give ideas for what we can make.

Day 0: In the airport on the way home I had a humous, lettuce, pine nut, lemon juice and cucumber sandwich with some dried mango. It was all very tasty!

Day 1: Got up, had a big glass of water. Went out for a 40 minute run. Got in, had a big glass of water. Had breakfast about half an hour later - an apple and a banana

Lunch was a sandwich. Brown bread with a little butter, mediterranian vegetables, lettuce, tomatoe and cucmber. Also a small bread roll with some butternut squash soup. I think thats what flavour the soup was....

Dinner was wholewheat pasta with red pesto, tomatoes and red peppers. I have since discovered that PESTO IS BAD! I didn't check the ingredients, and didn't realise it had cream and cheese in it. I also had another apple and banana.

Day 2: Same breakfast as day 1.

Lunch was the leftovers from dinner (I cooked 2 portions) but it was still facking pesto... still I didn't realise at the time. Anyways, I had that with a lot of lettuce and it was very nice.

Dinner was 3 baked potatoes (proper baked potaotes, done in the over for 1.5 hrs) with broccoli and peppers done on my george foreman. A very ittle bit of cheese on top finished it off.

Day 3: Same breakfast

Lunch will be another baked potato (leftovers again... makes lunches easier) with a salad of lettuce, tomato and carrot.

I'm going to have to go to the shop tonight to see if I can find some healthy pasta sauce.... prob tomato based.

Ok peeps, its time to play hardball. If you want to change you need to take immediate radical action.

The only thing preventing you from having what you want is the story you keep telling yourself about why you don't have it.

The time for half measures is at an end. If you want to change, I only ask for your dedication for ten days. After that, if you don't feel healthier, stronger and fitter... you can go back to doing what you were doing.

I'm doing it myself.... if i can do it - so can you.

How badly do you want this? Are you willing to do what it takes?

ok I missed my check in last week *headdesk*

pretty much cause i had the week from hell...so apologies...i'll try better this month..

I was doing so so well, and hit 28lbs down

then friday night i had fish and chips (and onion rings) saturday night we had a pizza hut, followed by pringles and chocolate after the game (as well as alcohol), sunday i had my big sunday dinner, and a bowl of uncle bens micro-rice at like midnight...

las needs to buck up or ship out methinks...

some one slap me!!!

progress report

Well...I'm still doing the walking thing, although apparently not with enough intensity. Might have to look into that.

I've been having a breakfast... not the best breakfast in the world but I'm eating it and I think its  a start. I've had a breakfast every morning for the past 5 days so hopfully I'll be kick starting that crappy metabolism of mine into doing something.

My parents had taken the scales to weigh their suitcase before they went away, so I decided to weigh myself, and in their room on carpet I was heavier than in the bathroom on the lino. So I moved the scales back into the bathroom and I was back to the same weight I've been all year. Whats going on with that! I've decided to stick with the bathroom version and use that as my guide.

I've drastically reduced my chocolate... instead of a mars etc Ive had a mini bounty or a milky way. Not the best maybe, but its a start.

i dunno if my chosen pics show that i've lost 24lbs but I certainly cant really tell myself much...honestly..my trousers are bigger but thats it..

I went into New Look yesterday for a pair of emergency trousers and ended up with quite a few items. I put the emergency trousers and found they were quite tight in the hip, thigh and ass regions. Putting this down to just that pair, I struggled on throughout the day slowly suffocating myself.

This morning I tried on everything else I bought... not a happy camper. Last time I bought ANYTHING in there I was a 16-18 in the tops and 18 in trousers and jeans. I bought 18's of everything yesterday and they're all a bit tight...why is this so when in every other shop I can get away with 16's in most but some 18's in tops and a definate 18 in trousers and jeans?!

So...because (as far as I'm concerened) New Look has ballsed up their sizing's... I've decided that the next time I go in there it's to be a perfect fitting 18...no lumps where there aren't supposed to be any etc.

Yes children, this may be what I needed to get the dose of motivation I needed.

Today i went into poundstretcher with mum, a girl works there that i've not seen in forever and a day, she was like "omg lasairiona how much weight have you lost? you've lost weight right? cause you look FABLOUS"

i was like um navy tshirt black trousers and greasy hair ... um HUH?

she made me feel SO good though! :D
